Gary Norek is currently serving as the Acting Director of Operational Concepts, Validation & Requirements Directorate within the ATO, Mission Support Services. This team develops, integrates and prioritizes ATO requirements based on operational needs.
Gary previously served as the Acting Director for Airspace Services, where his scope of responsibilities included performance based navigation (PBN) and metroplex, environmental and airspace policy, and obstruction evaluation. Prior to that, he led Airspace Policy Group, where his managerial responsibilities included airspace regulations and policy groups supporting airspace management, including environmental policy, emerging technologies and unmanned aircraft systems.
Before joining Mission Support Services, Gary served as a manager for Terminal Airspace Services. Gary has more than 30 years of experience with the FAA, approximately 20 years having been spent working in operation facilities in various capacities. He joined the FAA in 1987 as an Air Traffic Control Specialist at the Washington Air Route Traffic Control Center.
Gary obtained a bachelor’s degree from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania in Business Administration and a master’s degree from American University in Public Administration.
